Landslide win for Pine Creek Angus in interbreed clean sweep
(Pine Creek Angus stud, Cowra, NSW took out the supreme all breeds female)
The Angus breed made a clean sweep of the interbreed judging after a successful feature breed showing.
And it was the Fuller family, Pine Creek stud, Cowra, which had the midas touch with their exceptional team featured in all five interbreed class wins.
It was their magnificent two and a half year old female, Black Diamond Ms Shiraz N047 paraded with her six month old bull calf which sparkled brightest as the supreme beef exhibit.
Proud owner Greg Fuller lifted his hat and saluted the crowd when the daughter of PC Kodiak 5R H130 was announced the winner from the field of 14 breeds from five states.
“Shiraz’s mum won here five years ago to the day so it is a pretty big feat for her to come back as heifer and a cow and win again,’ Christie Fuller said.
All five judges put Shiraz as their number one pick – 10 points ahead of the runner-up the grand champion Murray Grey female, Arki Foxy Lady M71.
It was a big thrill for owner Jess Parker, Russells Bridge, Vic who bought the female at the 2018 Murray Grey National Show and Sale in Wodonga, Vic.
Four of the five judges put the Angus bull, Pine Creek Pinnacle P010 in top spot on their scorecards in the all breeds supreme champion bull title.
The 800 kilogram bull was one of the oldest sons in Australia by Candian sire Northern View SMW Gustov 32 which Pine Creek own the Australian semen marketing rights in.
It had an eye muscle area of 117 square centimetres and fat depths of 10mm rump and 6mm rib.
Pinnacle’s nearest rival on 11 points was the grand champion Red Angus bull from Jillangolo stud, Willalooka, SA.
But for supreme exhibit in the pointy end of the judging when the two Pine Creek champions were pitted against each other Pinnacle was no match for Ms Shiraz.
The two Angus champions from Pine Creek were also the runaway winners for the all breeds grand champion pair with the Red Angus duo runner-up.
Pine Creek combined with an outstanding 17-month-old heifer, Nampara Princess, exhibited by Stuart and Natalie Hann,Kingston, to claim the all breed junior champion pair, with just five points.
It was a tie for second between the Red Angus and Simmental junior pairs.
Rounding out the Fullers success their trio sired by LD Capitalist 316 won the interbreed sires progeny group.
An emotional Mr Fuller said it was among his greatest showing highlights, only eclipsed by the stud’s clean sweep of the interbreed at the Sydney Royal Easter Show in 2015.
“It is an enormous task to win one interbreed at a royal show, let alone taking five out,” he said.
Pine Creek are now the odds on favourite to snare the trophy for most successful exhibitor award across three Royals – Sydney and the Melbourne in a fortnight’s time which is being offered by Angus Australia to celebrate its centenary.
